Why is the court system so much more lenient with Women then Men?

They seem to get away with everything and there are way more Men going to jail then women even when they commit crimes too. Also in divorce court they always get custody of the kids no matter what unless they're a crack smoker. They seem to baulk or even find it funny that a women could commit violence against another man and these sort of cases are always swept under the rug because they put on their innocent face even if they chopped the guys off. It seems like blatant inequality to me...
