Has anyone sent a package from the Philippines to the US using Philpost & did it get there ok?

I need to send a package from the philippines to the US but the private couriers like fedex & ups are just way too expensive. Has anyone done this using the Philippine Postal Service? What was your experience - did it get to its destination on time & in good condition?
