Wrongfully suspended license??

my problem, around April 15th of this year I paid two seperate tickets,One for unproperly restrained child and another for speeding.In Georgia where I live you pay the tickets at the police dept then go around the corner to the court house to get a pink and yellow copy showing you have paid the fines. At the police department I was told that my license were suspended for the tickets being paid late(no big deal I kinda expected them to be.So I left the courthouse with my proof of payment of tickets and toook them to the DMV to have my license reinstated. After waiting almost an hour I get seen and am told my license are not suspended.As my license had the wrong address on them (I had recently moved) I was told I needed to get a new license which I did.Skip forward to this past Friday night.I was pulled over for swerving everything is going fine till my license comes back as suspended, I explained, but was still arrested and charged with suspended license.Is there way to fight this?
